NEWS 2: Final Event of the PRIN Projects PLATONE and MINOSSE

PLATONE

It investigates how plastics move, accumulate, and disperse within the surf zone and along beaches. Through experimental activities and numerical modeling, the project analyzes the processes leading to beaching and re-entrainment of debris into the sea, as well as the interactions between plastics, waves, and seabed sediments. The results will support the development of effective strategies to reduce the impact of plastics on coastal ecosystems.

MINOSSE

It develops numerical models to understand the transport and accumulation of plastics in rivers and coastal areas. The simulations are complemented by experimental campaigns and applied to real case studies to improve the prediction of debris distribution. The project will provide tools useful for guiding mitigation and removal interventions for plastics in aquatic environments.
